Aécio Filipe is a senior associate with the Litigation, Arbitration and French Desk group of BMA Advogados. He is also a Professor in the LLM Course in Commercial Arbitration at Ibmec, an Assistant Editor at Kluwer Arbitration Blog, Ambassador of the Arbitrator Intelligence and was the Founder Director of CAMARB Alumni. He authored the book "L'exécution des mesures à titre provisoire rendues par un tribunal arbitral situé à l'étranger", published by L'Harmattan in Paris.

He has experience in national and international commercial arbitration, representing clients in disputes involving corporate, mining, and telecommunications issues before international institutions such as the ICC, AAA, and all major Brazilian arbitration institutions, including CAM/CCBC, CAMARB, and FGV. Aécio worked as a foreign lawyer in the international arbitration teams of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP in London and Herbert Smith Freehills in Paris.

He is trained in French and Brazilian law and graduated from the University of Paris I : Panthéon – Sorbonne with honours (Master’s degree in International Private Law and International Commerce, cum laude, 2018). Aécio obtained equivalence of his master's degree held at the Université de Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne before the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). He took part of his thesis' researches at Universität Hamburg, Germany, as a visiting researcher. He holds a bachelor's degree in Brazilian Law from UFMG (LL.B., 2017), with undergraduate studies at the Université de Lille II: Droit et Santé, France, and the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Aécio is recipient of the "Arbitration Academy 2017 Scholarship" and the "Emerging Leaders in America Program Scholarship". He is a member of the Brazilian Bar since 2017 (Minas Gerais and São Paulo).
