I help my clients to avoid conflict and resolve disputes so that they can get back to business. I am skilled in using international legal tools to resolve disputes, especially international commercial and investor-State arbitration.

As International Arbitration Counsel, I have represented both investors and foreign governments in arbitrations under many major arbitral rules (including ICC, LCIA, ICDR, ICSID and UNCITRAL), seated in many major arbitral seats (including The Hague, Singapore, London, Geneva, Austria, Hawaii and Washington, DC). I have specialist experience in the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors.

I am based in Hong Kong, with global experience and outlook. I was born in Hong Kong, grew up in New Zealand and worked professionally in both of these places, plus New York and London. I am admitted as a Solicitor-Advocate in England and Wales, and am admitted as a New York attorney and New Zealand barrister/solicitor. I obtained my LLM from Yale Law School as a Fulbright Scholar. I speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

I care about advancing diversity, especially in my profession. I am a Board Member of ArbitralWomen; a Co-Director of Young ArbitralWomen Practitioners; and a Member of the Equal Representation in Arbitration Pledge Young Practitioners Subcommittee.

Supporting and upskilling young lawyers is important to me. As part of the CPR Institute’s Young Leaders in Alternative Dispute Resolution, I host a YouTube interview series speaking to in-house counsel and ombuds around the world about the experience with ADR and their career advice for young lawyers. I also love teaching, writing and sharing knowledge.

I am excited about legal tech and am the host of the first international arbitration gathering in virtual reality. This initiative was nominated for a Global Arbitration Review Award 2022: Best Innovation.

I teach the LLM programme in international arbitration at Queen Mary University of London, and previously taught at LSE.
