Jun Wang, a Chinese-born Australian national, is an experienced cross-border commercial dispute resolution specialist with a focus on Asia. Jun has a hybrid civil and common law background and is active in the region's leading dispute resolution hubs in energy, infrastructure and general commercial cases. Jun splits his time between Australasia and Greater China and frequently travels to Singapore and other countries of Southeast Asia to work on his assignments.
Jun is a Mandarin-English bilingual international arbitration counsel and arbitrator. He is one of the first Chinese-born individuals admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. He is the first ever Chinese-born individual admitted as a Fellow of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration(ACICA). Prior to joining FitzGerald Lawyers in 2020, Jun has had extensive experience working with leading Asian local and US/UK-origin international law firms in their offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney. Jun has worked on English, Australian, Chinese, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwanese, Singaporean, Malaysian, Thai, Indian, Indonesian, New York, Canadian, Cayman, BVI, Brazilian, Swiss and EU law matters in the past two decades.
Jun is experienced in handling Asia-related international commercial arbitrations arising from a broad array of sectors under various rules (UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, SCC, SIAC, AIAC, HKIAC, CIETAC, DIAC, etc) as well as purely ad hoc arbitral proceedings in many arbitral seats. He has acted as coordinating counsel for multinational companies, state-own enterprises and high net worth individuals in their complex multi-jurisdictional disputes involving court systems in Australia, Hong Kong, Macau, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, India, USA, Canada, Cayman, BVI, Barbados, Brazil and the European Union. He is also well versed in investor-state dispute settlement issues.
