Mian Sami ud-Din is a Partner at the law firm Bhandari Naqvi Riaz in Pakistan. He is is an Advocate of the High Courts of Pakistan and a qualified Barrister (unregistered) having been called to the bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. He acts as counsel in international arbitration matters and is also available to take appointments as an arbitrator. He has in-depth experience of international arbitration matters under the LCIA, ICC, SIAC, UNICTRAL and ICSID rules. He also acts as counsel in commercial litigation matters in Pakistan and appears regularly before the High Courts in Pakistan, often related to arbitration matters.

He has been recognized by Chambers and Partners every year since 2020 as an “Up and Coming” practitioner in General Commercial Dispute Resolution in Pakistan. Client feedback noted by Chambers and Partners in the Asia-Pacific Guide 2021 say that he has a “‘very masterful understanding of disputes matters,’” and describe him as “‘an excellent arbitration lawyer’”.

Sami is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK. He is on the panel of arbitrators of the SAARC Arbitration Council, nominated by the Government of Pakistan. He has also been appointed by the Pakistan Rugby Union as a Judicial Officer to hear disciplinary matters arising out of the game of rugby and official matches played in Pakistan under the World Rugby Regulations.

He has previously worked at a leading law firm in Islamabad where he headed the Dispute Resolution department and worked on international and domestic dispute matters. In the early stages of his career he also worked for two years in a niche commercial law firm in London and was involved in high value commercial dispute matters, including offshore litigation taking place in the British Overseas Territories.
