RAI "Interview the Institution" Series: Beka Injia (GIAC) in conversation with Shirin Gurdova

Shirin Gurdova, Member of the Executive Committee and the Events Team of Rising Arbitrators Initiative (RAI) speaks to Beka Injia, Secretary General of the Georgian International Arbitration Centre (GIAC) in the next episode of the RAI’s “Interview the Institution” Series.
In this engaging talk with Shirin, Beka reflects on GIAC’s growth from Georgia’s first ever non-profit arbitral institution to one of the leading arbitral institutions in the Caucasus – Black Sea – Caspian Region. He gives us an insight of the demography of the users of the GIAC Rules, the arbitrator appointment process at GIAC, and the criteria that the GIAC Arbitration Council considers while making an appointment. Beka also notes GIAC’s continued efforts to broaden its pool of arbitrators and its support to first-time arbitral appointees. In his advice to upcoming arbitrators, Beka urges candidates to seek more counsel work, adopt the highest standards of professionalism in their pursuits and actively look out for networking opportunities.
